Regulations in Focus, Future in Mind: What the New EU Packaging Regulation (PPWR) Means for Our Shipping

Sustainability, transparency and compliance with the highest standards are our top priorities. Whether it's selecting our products or packaging them, to ensure they reach you safely – we leave nothing to chance.

Currently, a central topic is moving the entire European trade and logistics industry: the new EU Packaging Regulation (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation – PPWR). We want to transparently show you what it's about, which standards we already meet, and what we are currently working on with high priority.

What is the PPWR and what is it about?

With the PPWR, the European Union aims to drastically reduce packaging waste, further increase recycling rates, and standardize labeling and registration requirements in all member states. For online retailers, this means comprehensive requirements – from specific material markings to strict requirements for recyclability and complex administrative proof obligations in each individual EU country.

Where we stand today: Quality, Transparency & Continuous Optimization

When it comes to packaging, we make no compromises between transport safety and environmental awareness:

  • 100% recyclable cardboard boxes: Our shipping boxes are fully recyclable and marked with the appropriate disposal symbols.

  • Maximum product protection: To perfectly protect delicate items, we currently still use protective films and biodegradable or dissolvable flips as cushioning material.

  • Step by step more sustainable: We are already working intensively on solutions to save even more resources in the future for filling and protective materials and to fully comply with upcoming EU directives.

  • Certified shipping: We work closely with our logistics partners and use certified sustainable shipping options (such as our DHL certificate for climate-friendly transport).

Strategic Adjustment: Why Shipping to other EU countries is temporarily paused

While our packaging and shipping methods technically already meet high standards, the PPWR brings a multitude of new, country-specific registration and documentation obligations within the European Union.

To ensure absolutely legally compliant, clean and transparent processing, we have decided on a targeted step:

  • Germany & Third Countries (e.g. Switzerland): Deliveries within Germany and shipping to all countries outside the EU (including Switzerland, Great Britain etc.) continue smoothly and without restrictions as usual.

  • Temporary EU Stop: We have temporarily paused shipping to other EU member states to fully adapt the bureaucratic and administrative processes in the background to the new framework conditions.

Our Goal: To be fully available for you again as quickly as possible

We are not deterred by the regulatory complexity, but use the time for sustainable process optimization. We are working hard to finalize all bureaucratic requirements to reactivate our usual service for customers throughout the EU as soon as possible.
