For sale is an extremely rare Leica M6 from the pre-series, also known as the 0-series. This camera dates back to the time before the official market launch of the M6 and is therefore part of a tiny batch of only approximately 30 to 50 test cameras. Even cameras from the very first series have fetched high prices at auctions: an early serial number (1657252) was sold for €6,600 at the Leitz Auction, and another example from the first year of production fetched €7,800. Our offered model is even rarer due to its origins in the pre-series and is of particular value to collectors.
The camera shows clear, but authentic, signs of wear and tear and was previously serviced by Leica Customer Care. The leather covering was also renewed during this time. The shutter operates reliably and sounds very good in its sequence; the viewfinder is clear and in good condition. There is visible wear on the back, and the winding lever is slightly loose, but this does not affect functionality.
A body cap and carrying strap are included. This rare piece of Leica history is far more than just a camera—it's a unique collector's item for enthusiasts who value originality and historical significance.
